Alabama city makes the switch to LEDs

The city of Robertsdale, Alabama, will be replacing many of its incandescent streetlights with LED alternatives by July, reports AL.com.

Thanks to a federal grant, the city will be able to retrofit many of the streetlights lining Alabama 59, replacing expensive and inefficient incandescent lights with eco-friendly light-emitting diodes. The LED lights will cost a fraction as much as traditional incandescents to maintain and illuminate – and they'll last more than twice as long.

The benefits of LEDs are great for municipalities like Robertsdale, and they're also excellent for homeowners all over the country. Whether you live down South, up North or even out West, LED lighting could help make your home more environmentally-friendly – while making your wallet a little greener, too!

Try some LED rope lights in your living room to brighten up your entertainment center, or string them up in the bedroom for a cool, natural glow to read by at night. Since they're so durable, LED rope lights are also ideal for outdoor use – to frame doors and windows, illuminate parties and add a twinkle to any garden.
