Art Van Furniture wins green award for LED use

Top 100 company Art Van Furniture was recently recognized by DTE Energy and Engineering Society of Detroit for its eco-friendly efforts after it made the switch to LED lighting, says Furniture Today.

Art Van Furniture's 34 showrooms feature some 38,000 bulbs and lamps, mostly incandescent, which can burn as hot as 200 degrees and use a vast amount of energy annually. For every bulb that was swapped for an LED, the company saved 63 watts of energy – and the new LEDs can only heat up to 85 degrees, saving Art Van big money on air conditioning and cooling costs.

“Switching to LED gives us crisper, cleaner, brighter lighting, and longer lamp life, which equals far lower maintenance costs,” Art Van's property manager, David Winowiecki, told the source. ?”We're doing something that is eco-friendly, saves the company money, and we won an award for doing it. You can't beat that.”

Small businesses worldwide are realizing that LEDs are the perfect lighting to keep costs down while still showing off beautiful merchandise in well-lit showrooms. Try some LED T8 tube lights in your small business today.
