Nebraska city makes the switch to LED streetlights
Mar 19th 2012
The city of Grand Island, Nebraska, is replacing its downtown incandescent streetlights with LED alternatives, reports The Independent.
Some 19 intersections in the busiest areas of downtown Grand Island will be getting an LED makeover, where red, green or yellow "balls" of light-emitting diodes will be installed in place of traditional incandescent bulbs. The cooler, more efficient LED lights are expected to last about seven years without needing replacement.
You can make use of LED lights in your own home, too. Whether you want colored or plain illumination, LED rope lighting can bring a natural glow into your home or yard. Try stringing some LED rope lights up in your living room for a little extra light where you need it most.
You can also use durable, cost-effective LED lighting in your front and back yards. Rope lighting is durable enough to withstand even the harshest weather, so you can enjoy its glow all winter long, no matter the forecast.
