San Francisco Presidio installs ‘dark sky’ LEDs

The San Francisco Presidio has installed LED lighting in an effort to enhance the park's natural beauty while providing reliable, effective and energy-efficient illumination to all who visit it.

The historic park's new lighting won't just save the city time and money, however – it will also help save the environment. Not only are LED lights more efficient than their incandescent counterparts, the lights used in the Presidio are also designed to conform to "dark sky" specifications. That means they'll provide the park with natural, beautiful lighting – without adding light pollution or glare to the gorgeous scenery that's made it famous.

"We used a warm 3000K white light to create a soft, welcoming appearance," said David Malman, project lighting designer from Architectural Lighting Design. "I believe the combination of the dark sky luminaire design and the LED technology resulted in a beautiful addition to the landscape lighting while preserving the natural night time setting appropriate for a national park."

As the Presidio project proves, LED lights are ideal for outdoor use. LED rope lighting is perfect for use in the backyard, the garage, the patio and even the toolshed. It's durable, reliable and bright, meaning it'll lend illumination everywhere you need it – without needing repairs for years.
