Warranty & Returns

To file a return please submit your information in our Return Portal.

Exclusions & Liability

All warranties herein will exclude any items installed incorrectly, misused, neglected, altered, or abused. Any damages, failures, or defective items are subject to the discretion of Birddog Lighting (BDL henceforth). Any linear lighting product that is packaged on a spool must be taken off the spool before applying power. Plugging it in on the spool or reel will void all warranties and may pose a risk of fire. Failure to properly weatherproof your lights will void the warranty. Please be sure to follow any product specific instructions found in or on the packaging, included in the box, or on www.birddoglighting.com.

All warranty claims may be subject to sending picture or video content of the malfunctioning or broken product. Refusal to send picture or videos of the issue may result in denial of warranty request. In some instances, pictures or videos are required in order to successfully process the warranty claim in our system.

BDL shall have no liability whatsoever, in any event, for payment of incidental or consequential costs including, without limitations, costs relating directly or indirectly to installation, transportation, personal injury, property, or any other associated costs that may or may not be related to any product we sell whether deemed working or defective.

*Use of a surge protector is highly recommended. Failure to use one may void the warranty.

Damaged Items

Any item(s) received damaged due to shipping must be reported to BDL within 7 business days of receiving the package. Please inspect the package(s) upon receipt to make sure all parts are included and no damage is present. If you encounter damage or missing parts, please contact BDL at (406) 586-5970 to request a damage call tag (DCT). Once a DCT has been issued the item must be returned to the shipping company in the original packaging. If no DCT is issued a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number may be issued for return of the product to BDL for inspection of damages. Once received, if damage is found to be caused by shipping or improper packing, a replacement will be sent free of charge.

Defective Items

United States Customers: A US customer who believes they have a defective item within the specified Warranty Period must complete a Warranty Claim Form or contact BDL directly at (406) 586-5970. Free return shipping may be offered for defective items that are required to be returned to BDL. Any defective items approved for return should be sent back in the original packaging for evaluation. If the product is found defective a replacement will be sent free of charge.

All defects must be reported within the Warranty Period. The customer is responsible for evaluating the product within the Warranty Period to ensure an item is working properly. Items used for the first time after the Warranty Period will not qualify for a warranty replacement.

International Customers: For approved warranty replacments outside the United States BDL will provide a replacement product free of charge. However, the customer will be responsible for any shipping charges associated with sending the replacement.

Free Return Shipping

A customer may return an item for any reason within the first 30 days of receiving it. For customers in the continental US a prepaid label for standard ground will be provided at no charge.

All returns require a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. To initiate the free return process and obtain an RMA number login to your account then click the Return Items link next to the order you wish to return or contact BDL at (406) 586-5970 for further assistance. An RMA must be obtained within 30 days of receiving the product. Product must be returned complete, in like new condition, and in the original box. All returns are subject to approval and the refund policy stated below.

Exclusions include, but are not limited to:    - Non-returnable items including motifs, custom cuts, special orders, and clearance items. Please see the complete list of non-returnable item Exclusions below.    - Oversized items (any one item with a single dimension that exceeds 48” or has a weight of 50 lbs. or more).    - Items shipped outside the lower 48 states or to other countries.    - Items shipped via freight carrier.

Refunds

All returns requiring a refund are subject to a 20% restock fee and must be returned in like new condition within 30 days of receiving the product. If taken as an account credit the restocking fee will be waived. An RMA must be obtained by contacting BDL prior to returning the item. Holiday items purchased within 30 days of the intended holiday cannot be returned for a refund. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

Exchanges

Customers have the option to exchange or return an item for store credit without incurring a restock fee. An item being exchanged or returned for store credit must be returned in like new condition and in the original box within 30 days of receiving the product. An RMA must be obtained by calling BDL directly for any items exchanged. Some exclusions apply. Please see Exclusions below.

Exclusions

All returns are subject to approval and the refund policy stated below.

The following items have a NO RETURN POLICY:

1. Special Orders

Any item that is considered special order. Special order is defined as any non inventory item or group of items which was ordered expressly and uniquely for a specific customer.

2. Custom Cuts

Any item that is considered a custom cut, a sample, or that has been cut or sized by Birddog Lighting specifically for that customer’s unique requirements and specifications.

3. Clearance, Closeout, and Overstock Items

Any item that is sold as a partial product, open box, used, or otherwise less than new.

4. Motifs

Any item that is considered a Motif, including but not limited to rope light motifs, neon light motifs, and M5 motifs do NOT qualify for returns. Please see warranty policy for options if you are having trouble with your motif.

Product Warranty

Below you will find product specific warranty information, as well as general warranties that cover all Birddog Lighting products. Please note that the product warranty does not cover items that were installed or used incorrectly including, but not limited to: incorrect voltage sources, failing to seal connections outdoors or other wet locations, connecting the wrong accessories, operating more than the max allowed length, plugging the lights in while still on the spool, bending the lights beyond their allowable maximum, and operating in temperatures that exceed the specified range.

LED Rope Lights

LED rope lights carry a 30 day manufacturer’s warranty for non-working sections and the included accessories. For section(s) failures, a replacement section(s) will be sent out along with an invisible splice kit(s) free of charge for the end user to make repairs. If, during troubleshooting with a BDL representative, the entire product is found to be defective or 30% or greater is not working, an RMA number may be issued for further testing to determine the cause. If the product is found defective a replacement will be sent free of charge.

After the 30 days the LED rope lights will carry a 2 year limited warranty on non-working sections. During this time any failed section(s) will be covered by free replacement section(s) and invisible splice kit(s) for repair by the end user. In the event of a failure that includes 30% or more, special consideration (at the sole discretion of BDL) may be made for replacing the entire spool(s) only upon the return and testing of the product(s) by BDL.

Incandescent Rope Lights

Incandescent rope lights carry a 30 day manufacturer’s warranty for non-working sections and the included accessories. A replacement section(s) will be sent out along with an invisible splice kit(s) free of charge for the end user to make repairs. If, during troubleshooting with a BDL representative, the product is found to be defective or 30% or greater is not working, an RMA number may be issued for further testing to determine the cause. If the product is found defective a replacement will be sent free of charge.

LED Strip Lights

LED strip lights carry a 30 day manufacturer’s warranty for non-working sections and the included accessories. For section(s) failures a replacement section(s) will be sent out along with solder-less splices free of charge for the end user to make repairs. If, during troubleshooting with a BDL representative, the product is found to be defective or 30% or greater is not working, an RMA number may be issued for further testing to determine the cause. If the product is found defective a replacement will be sent free of charge.

After the 30 days the LED strip lights will carry a 2 year limited warranty on non-working sections. During this time any failed section(s) will be covered by a free replacement section(s) and solder-less splices for repair by the end user. In the event of a failure that includes 30% or more, special consideration (at the sole discretion of BDL) may be made for replacing the entire spool(s) only upon the return and testing of the product(s) by BDL.

String Lights (LED and Incandescent)

A 30 day limited warranty will cover any defective item(s). Any item(s) that are found defective must be returned to BDL for testing by obtaining an RMA number. If the item is found to be defective a replacement will be sent free of charge.

Motifs/Holiday Items

Birddog Lighting does not accept returns on Motifs; however, replacements or replacement bulbs will be provided under a 30-day limited warranty. If your motif is not working or something is wrong please contact our support team with the problem, order information and pictures of the situation. Birddog Lighting will provide an RMA number if we need to evaluate the motif at our warehouse. Repairs or replacements within the 30-day timeframe will be free of charge. Environmental factors such as rust, corrosion etc… are not considered defective and will not be covered under warranty.

All Other Products

Most products not specifically mentioned in the above policy will be covered by a limited 30 day warranty. An RMA number must be obtained before returning any product(s).
